The Benefits of Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a philosophy, a science and an art, taking advantage of a body’s own natural propensity to heal itself. At Nimbus, treatment is a synthesis of gentle bodywork techniques, balanced for holistic healing, restoring movement to areas that have been limited by injury, trauma and illness. Osteopathic bodywork can also play a significant role in the management of pain and, when used in conjunction with traditional medical treatments, can lessen the severity of symptoms and reduce healing time. As a Naturopath and Herbalist, Belinda can identify, recommend and provide plant and food-based nutrition to enhance the healing process.

    WOMEN and MEN

Osteopathic Manual Therapy can help with:

    • Back and neck pain
    • Sciatica
    • Headaches
    • Joint pain
    • Repetitive strain
    • Sports injuries

Osteopathic Manual Therapy can also play a significant role in pain management of arthritic conditions, and when used in conjunction with medical treatment, can be of value in reducing the severity of symptoms in conditions such as asthma, menstrual dysfunction and chronic fatigue.

For many years, Belinda has helped women with a variety of pregnancy-associated issues. It does not have to be ‘normal’ to experience back pain during pregnancy. Appropriate management of posture and body mechanics will help prevent and reduce various aches and pains including sacroiliac pain and sciatica.

Osteopathy can improve a child’s general health. A child will often communicate discomfort in their body to a parent. If the child is very young, they may communicate this by being irritable or difficult to calm. Difficulty getting to sleep or staying asleep may be manifestations of something going on in a child’s structure.

Birth itself places a lot of stress on the newborn.  Osteopathic manual therapy assists in the recovery from the birth process and helps to promote good health and development of the child.

Many older children experiencing learning or behavioral difficulties have a history of traumatic birth, or head trauma early in childhood that went untreated. Children who suffer from recurrent ear infections often have a similar history. By addressing the child’s structure, the child's condition can be greatly improved.

Osteopathic techniques for children are gentle and designed not to place stress on the tissues.
